FORMER TNT BOSS CONDAMNED WITHOUT TRIAL

Rwanda is a country full of surprises! I read (via The New Times web site) that its former boss by the names of JB Sanyu was condemned with any trial! I tried to contact people back in Kigali to find out what had really transpired, but most of them all were heart broken because of how some people have been actively plotting to liquidate JB.

All fingers were being pointed at his former boss (Dr Ndahiro Emmanuel), who has been working closely with the current TNT boss (Joseph Bideri) to persecute this young man. Most of you readers have been reading articles about Ndahiro and his nasty actions against whoever resists his dirty games of witch hunting others. JB (as commonly referred by his colleagues in the media) is one guy who gallantly refused to fall prey to doc's manipulation, and the latter too has been using his power to make him suffer to the extent of denying him the right work.

With the recent development, it is clear that the spy man has ordered the courts to deal with JB. I have never seen a court proceeding when the one on trial is denied the right to defend himself, have access to the file of all allegations or even have some legal representation. I am told JB pleaded with the judge to respect article 18 of the Constitution of Rwanda, which states that all persons appearing in court have an absolute legal and constitutional right to be defended in court. Such was a kangaroo court and a total miscarriage of justice!

Worse still, the plotters have been mobilized the courts of law to sentence JB and humiliate him and his family by locking him up for three years! I am sure most people in Rwanda know the conditions in our prisons and particularly what it means to be sent to 1930! This personal manipulation of courts and judges by the spy boss raises a lot of question, especially one pertinent question of whether the Rwandan judiciary is independent.

And what about the efforts made by the plotters to humiliate JB by mobilizing the government media houses to cover the court proceeding. I am reliably told that Joseph Bideri (an ardent failure in life and a professional sycophant of the spy) took the lead in mobilizing the government media houses to have JB's concocted story appear as a lead story in The New Times and broadcasted on Radio Rwanda. Why fight the young man using the government machinery? This is a young man whose future will not be destroyed by your mere machinations! He largely contributed to The New Times, and no wonder that the failures like Bideri are maliciously using state media to harass him. Fortunately JB is such a steady, brilliant and peace loving citizen.

Joseph and Emmanuel may succeed in sending JB to prison, but history will one day judge them harshly! As for JB and family, stay strong and steady as justice will triumph. As clearly reflected in a Kinyarwanda proverb, Ngo Umwanzi agukira akobo, Imana igukira akanzu (literally meaning that when an enemy digs a pit for you, God plans for a safe exit).

JB is in Rwanda

Dear readers,

I read that JB, the former MD of New Times and Contact Fm radio station respectively had fled the country. This is not true, because I took an initiative and traced his whereabouts in Kigali.

For your information, I have known him from school days in Uganda and his love for his country. It is very unfortunate that he has been undergoing that kind of harassment from the spy chief. When I met JB, he seemed not bothered from whatever has been written or said about him. He dismissed the Katwe stories at total rubbish, and wondered the motivation behind whoever is behind those stories.

Now for the one who wrote that he had disappeared or fled his motherland, please you are mistaken and I urge you to talk to people who know JB better, because his loyalty and love for his country can not be questioned. And whoever has been making his life difficulty to the extent of wanting him to flee the country will never achieve his mission. The guy may be out of the media, but his contribution to the Rwanda's media industry is there for everyone to see.

Madame Baine, CG RRA, please be fair!

Dear readers,

I am a business man operating in Kigali and in the region. Though business people are credited for their brave contribution to the collection of taxes in the country, the RRA boss is discredited for treating us unfairly.

Because of her close relationship with the spy doctor, she's fond mistreating some of us. Actually we are thinking of officially lodging our complaints with the rightful authorities.

Please Mary Bainemugisha (full name), distant yourself from being used by the tainted doctor, otherwise you will end up falling apart with him. Some people who know you very well from your days in Mbarara and later at Makerere University where you offered a flat degree (graduating in English literature) may start spilling beans. Again, graduating in English literature and then becoming the CG of RRA may be the reason why the spy has taken hostage of you!

Why Mzee Bihire vowed not to step in Rwanda

Readers,

I hope you all remember Ms Linda Bihire, the Rwandan Minister of Infrastructure. Now I am living in Uganda, and I know Mzee Bihire the father to Linda. His home is in Gayaza (near Kampala)

Now the old man has never forgiven Ndahiro for having impregnated his daughter (Linda), leading her to drop out of school aged 16 years, and worse still abandoning the old man to take care of the young Linda and her son Edgar.

When speaking to the old man as to why he has never thought of returning to Rwanda like most Rwandese, he told me that in as long as Ndahiro is powerful and still alive on earth, he will never return home. Ndahiro has tried all sorts of tricks to woo the old man back to Rwanda (including his recent influences to have Linda appointed a Minister) but the old man has vowed not to yield.

Apparently the old man is contemplating of writing a confidential letter to the President seeking a private audience him. Again he's thinking of approaching a human rights organization or some international courts to sue the doc over defilement of his daughter and lack of responsibility.

Thou shall trust in witchcraft, vowed the Kigali Spy Chief

While many people believe in God day and night, some cruel people like the spy chief pretend to believe in God during the day, and rush to his father's home to appease the evil spirits.

Personally I live near his village home and a neighbor to his father. It is common knowledge here that the whole family engage in adoring the semi gods. It is only now that the people in Kigali got to learn about where the Doc's cruelty emanates - from his strong attachment and adoration on semi gods in those small huts at his farm!

The commission for the redistribution of land in Umutara province (Eastern part) was extremely shocked upon seeing the several small built around the learned medical man's farm.

No wonder, the guy's attitude towards others is pathetic! In the exercise of redistributing land, the learned doc's father pleaded with the commissioners not to temper with his son's spiritual power!

Information reaching the Kigali snoops allege that the spy is not only bitter for the taking part of the chunk-land that he had grabbed and distributed it in the names of his siblings (who had never stepped in school) but the fact that everybody knows that his life is enkindled by evil spirits!

Now you know where he wields the power to terrorize the citizens! Some strong believers in town have no sympathy for him, and don't feel like praying for him to return to the real God of believers.

Bravo, 'Mucyo Commission'

Dear Readers,

The world should know the truth on what transpired in Rwanda. I come again to thank Mucyo's commission for producing the report that carries memorable and historical significances to what happened in Rwanda . According to report released this week by minister of Justice, it names 33 senior French military and political figures for their alleged role in the 1994 genocide. In my view, this big step in search for truth in Rwandan genocide. If the findings of the report are forwarded to international courts, in reference to the 1948 genocide convention article 3 and 4, then all the 33 would be criminals of genocide in Rwanda.

Article 3
The following acts shall be punishable:

* (a) Genocide;
* (b) Conspiracy to commit genocide;
* (c) Direct and public incitement to commit genocide;
* (d) Attempt to commit genocide;
* (e) Complicity in genocide.

Article 4
Persons committing genocide or any of the other acts enumerated in Article 3 shall be punished, whether they are constitutionally responsible rulers, public officials or private individuals. raises a number of issue.

However, the report finding may not be easy for Rwanda in catching the attention of the worlds because France may push Rwanda on the role of RPF in the 1994 genocide(see http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7544267.stm). This could be a blow in the RPF leadership hence derailing the current peace and prosperity the citizens enjoy. With such tight confrontation, the legal battle can't solve anything but diplomacy could give a solution to the current problems. The two nations have hard historical link (language) that can't change over suddenly in favor of other options. We know, some countries have apologized for neglecting Rwanda, and have pledged their support in developing Rwanda. France as a super power, may follow the same route despite taking long to accept its role in the genocide. This gives credit to Mucyo's commission for the job well done. Please do extend your investigation to other countries that had a role in genocide like those that supplied weapons or those that looked and watched the genocide happening.

Museveni has divided Ugandans

dear readers I would like 2 thank u for supporting this katwe programme.

am not trying to be a secterian but I want all ugandans to believe that Museveni has brought developments in uganda and I guess no one has doubts in that, but the problem comes that this kind of development is just for a few people whose population does noy even exceed 1.5m. You find its a just few banyankore clique who own 50% of the invesments in uganda. one can even be misled to think that these people are the majority in uganda.

Mr Museveni has played a big role in dividing Ugandans along tribal lines and he goes ahead to accuse baganda for being tribalistic! Look at the three security bodies in (police,army and prisons),these are all covered by banyankore. These are efforts to keep himself in power like the mugabe style.

Most of the time while reading article in papers, you find that people who are preaching against sectarian tendencies are the Assimwes, the Byarugabas...but later you find they are the beneficiaries of these acts and they want to safeguard themselves by telling Ugandans that jobs and other benefits are by merit and not tribal based, which is wrong even to a one year old.

I want any one to visit Makerere University Registar and check for the students on government or State House sponsorhip, you can think that its only banyakore who fought (the sponsorship is meant for people who lost parents during the war). Yet Lutamaguzis kids are dying of jiggers in villages yet Musevenis life was once in his life.

Talk about land evictions in buganda, there is no eviction which takes place minus the use of a gun by the Col. Mugyenyis, Amwines and others with similar names. For all the banyankore out there, the M7 government is causing all the hate in peoples minds for you people, and partly you your selves are to blame because people are fade up with arrogancy. Also laws in uganda target certain tribes, when a muganda says that banyankore are stealing buganda land (which no dought its true), the person is charged of causing divisions in the country, but some time back Kasilivu Atwoki said that all baganda in bunyoro land should be slaughtered, and he was intead made a minister. I leave the rest of you to think of this.

Musevenis plan is to destroy buganda but instead he is destroying himself. I wonder why the president would scare legislators to fail them if they dont support the bill, the shows that the president has personal interests in the bill.

Uproot NRM by grassroots action

Dear Sir,

Mr. Obbo's column on Dr. Besigye's place in Uganda's politics was as honest and insightful as any he has written before. Thank you Mr. Obbo!

Like Mr. Obbo, I've often wondered why there are so few of us able to offer even half the level of sacrifice that Dr. Besigye has done. Could it be that we are all max-ed out on sacrifice? Or is it that NRM has ensured we are mostly fat and lazy after years of easy living (at least for the elite)? I'm still unsure what the answers to these questions are, but I think Mr. Obbo's assertion (that we resent Dr. Besigye for showing us up as hopelessly venal and cowardly) rings true.

I also agree with Mr. Obbo that a Maria Theresa candidate would still be treated by Museveni's machinery as Besigye has been. Anyone who has doubts about this, need only recall the recent 'warnings' to Mayiga and Nambooze, who are anything but 'tough'.

Yet I disagree with Mr. Obbo's allusion that a candidate's mass appeal is enough to remove NRM from power. This is highly doubtful as demonstrated by the fact that in 2001 and 2006 elections meant nothing. What mattered was the ability to use violence, bribery and downright stealing of votes. And we know who wins the gold medal in those sports.

Yet in Mr. Obbo's analysis of Besigye lies part of the solution to changing Uganda: Ugandans must rise up and take matters into their own hands. Not necessarily with overt, Besigye-style 'toughness', but with effective, ground-level tactics on a mass scale. Looking closely, the recent arrests of the Buganda officials suggest that NRM is a mere shadow of its former self! The manner of arrest of Mayiga, Nambooze and Segoona demonstrates clearly that NRM lacks the effective, cohesive repressive instruments of yester-years. The putative reasons for the arrests demonstrate that NRM's well-facilitated propaganda machine can be seriously undermined by small, ground-level operatives such as the ones above, who's rather effective efforts at decampaigning the land bill so angered the "Great Leader"! Now if we could only multiply their example 1000-fold, I think Besigye (or indeed Nambooze/Mayiga/Segoona) would be least of Museveni's problems.

NRM is able to run down the country precisely because all of us who complain so much let them do so. We lack the courage and wisdom to stop them.

What Evaristo Nyanzi said

I remember you ran a story (or stories) on how the NRM government carried out well planned missions to eliminate all former UFM and/or FEDEMU commanders they considered threats to their stay in power.What do you have for us as regards the file you opened on Dr.Andrew Lutankome Kayiira?

I have just read a story in Bukedde (the sunday version, Aug 3), in which the former NRM minister Evaristo Nyanzi narated how he was arrested on framed up charges. He mentioned names of people he found in the jail and most of them have since died! The most intesresting thing is that when one recalls the deaths of ll these fellows they leave many unanswered questions! I think you guys are running true stories though some people through blind support of Mr. Museveni accuse you of writting false stuff.

Now I see why former UFM's Kasirye Gwanga wants to been seen always on Museveni's side even though no one has sought his comment. Please post the your finding on Dr.Kayiira. thank you.
