Entries for Uganda's worst companies have started coming in. Here are the first two we have got.

Ugandas worst companies: Umeme

1. They send us exorbitant bills. Imagine one uses the TV to light his house, one security light, irons twice a month, uses a fridge and use gas for cooking and get a bill of Shs. 40,000 which bills keep on increasing each month yet one has not bought any new gadget!

2. They demand a lot of money for connection but takes ages to have you connected.

3. They make you pay for a pole if there is none near your place, which pole becomes their property but they never refund your money when they connect other consumers on it.

Uganda's worst companies: Master Bakers

Worst company in Uganda? Surely it has to be Master Bakers at Plot No. 4, Kampala Road. The owners are a Mr. Atul Radia and his ruthless wife Mrs. Kooky Radia (a Kenyan born Indian).

Fearing that a loaf of bread might be stolen during the night shift, these two have been locking their 22-odd employees in a boiling hot bakery at night with six heavy padlocks at the front and back doors for years!

Uganda Police under Kale Kaihura

Dear Editor of Radio Katwe, could please try find out what is happening in the Uganda Police under K.K and bring it up for our readers especially in these fields:

1. The sale of Bugolobi Police land. Where was the money taken?

2. What happened to building of new Police Headquarters in Naguru?

3. What is happening to other top senior officers (then more AIGPS than ever we had)?

4. What is the criteria of promotions in Police today?

5. What are the qualifications of joining Police today? And where are the former LDU who later became special constables with writings on their uniform at the back, SPC?

6. Where are the many UPDF soldiers brought to Police deployed and what qualifications do they have to head departments which real trained officers don't have?

Abuse of funds intended for northern Uganda

I would like you to investigate how donor monies are being squandered in war torn northern Uganda and how politically failed politicians who are now appointed as RDCs are interfering with pro people development projects.

A case in point is Lacor road. As you might be aware, this is the road that joins the great Juba road and it's the road that leads to one of the biggest and best hospital in the country, Lacor Hospital.

It serves the majority of the population in and around the district some patients come as far as Kampala. Lacor has one of the best facilities hence its importance to the population.

Back to Lacor hospital road. The road stretches for about 5km and it as become the number one killer of pregnant women and patients in emergency situations. So much so that to reduce the number of the people dying enroute to the hospital, the Diocese [which owns the hospital] decided in 2006 that they will fund the construction of the road since government had failed. The government since it was election time, decided to refuse the offer in view of the fact that it would be a political blow. They promised to handle it "at a later stage".

In 2008 the district under the Mayor lobbied for some money from well wishers and acquired 400 million shillings and decided that the money be used to start construction of the road but the RDC Col. (retired) Walter Ochora stopped the construction saying that it is the work of the central government to carry out any work on the road, and that construction starts in 2010.

1. The question is if seriously ill people are still dying due to the extremely bad road, is it sensible to stop upgrade of this road as they wait for the government to start the actual one since we can still save some lives?

2. Is this not a political game that is geared to win electorates to vote NRM in 2011?

History catches up with Yoseri Tuhaburwa

Reading comments to the Black Star News piece titled "Let the enemies of Africa Beware", I discovered a revelation:

Museveni's thesis is listed in the book; " Essays on the liberation of Southern Africa" as authored by Museveni Y.T!

Not Y.K. as we have been duped to refer to him with which in full is Yoweri Kaguta. Y.T. vindicates Mama Byanyima (R.I.P) who revealed few years ago that Museveni's real names are Yoseri Tuhaburwa (Y.T.)

Ugandans should ask Museveni how Kaguta name came into being and which culture in Uganda Tuhaburwa belongs to. I was chating with a friend from the Hima clan who denies that Tuhaburwa is a Hima name.

So are we being led by an unconstitutional president given that for anyone to be eligible for election to the position of a president, he must be a citizen of Uganda by descent?

I believe this man has a case to answer for standing for election under false pretence. True patriots should mobilise themselves and take this bloody thug to court. And if necessary, a DNA test through a credible institution must be undertaken to ascertain his relation with one old man called Amos Kaguta.

Etome

Thank you Etome for your ever sharp eye. Another reader alerted us to this article by Makerere University historian Mwambutsya Ndebesa published sometime in June 2003, which throws more light on Y.T.'s long record of "mis-remembering" the past to suit his ambitions.

"Mr Museveni rose into this revolutionary tradition and became the leader of the student revolutionary society at Dar-es-Salaam University. He later went to Mozambique to do his BA research project titled "Fanonian Theory of Violence and its Verification in Mozambique."

By the way contrary to popular belief Museveni did not go to Mozambique basically for military training or fighting but as a researcher under the supervision of a then radical Zimbabwean Professor Nathan Shamunyarira, now turned conservative and supporter of life presidency for Mugabe." [Emphasis added]

Westerners dominate Virginia College scholarships

Just wondering, why is Virginia College full of 'Rwandese' and Banyankole? Do these scholarships sent by the United States to help Ugandans go to only these two tribes?

Dictatorship For Dummies:
14 Step Guide To successful African Presidency

There is no doubt that Charles Eliba, who has written this astute piece on the dictators who today are candidates for the focus of attention by Luis Moreno Ocampo of the International Criminal Court, is a candidate for the Akew Kemet Harambe Club of Afro types determined to bring a new Africa onto the world scene. I hope Charles has considered joining their ranks.

That is what CLUB OF AFRICAN DICTATORS is all about. Read this narrative piece and see if Uganda's Charles Eliba makes some sense in his writing.

Just in case you are still interested in joining the CLUB OF AFRICAN DICTATORS, the following guide notes should always be in your pocket.

Rule 1. Be the richest man in your country. If you are a second-generation dictator, this is not hard; just blackmail the guy who came before you. If you come from an oil-producing country, this is even easier. If you are Ugandan, the National Social Security Fund comes in very handy; defence contracts even better especially through fronts, not forgetting that the DRC wealth is always free for grabs. In countries of private ownership of land, it is very imperative for you and your cronies to be the owners, controllers, and givers of land.

Rule 2. Find poor, stupid and brutal men from every corner of your country and make them rich. Do not give them money. Give them a place to steal from (e.g. government positions) in exchange for a pledge of loyalty. Stupid people do not save money, so they will always need you to bail them out. Make sure every rich person in every corner of your country either owes his wealth to your personal intervention, or his hands are soiled with a dirty or bloody crime which you are aware of and which you eventually help him to keep at bay. Give money to all women's church groups. They are the most powerful groups in your country.

Rule 3. Make America or China happy. Make Israel and Saudi Arabia very happy. Visit Muammar Gaddafi often, he likes African leaders. Pray with George Bush and let him see your soul. Make your country's supermodel the ambassador to France and Italy. Ask her to wear a mini when presenting papers to Nicholas Sarkozy.

Rule 4. Make sure the paper definition of 'western democracy' can be read in the way you do things. For example, make sure you have a multi-party parliamentary democracy, but where more than 2/3 of the members belong to your party, and at least half ? of the opposition MPs are on your secret service payroll. This is very easy; simply make sure that national revenue is personally yours to all intent and purpose and that any parliamentary candidate who pledges loyalty to you personally will have access to endless funds with which to buy the soul of his constituents. Most importantly, never allow intelligent people to ever find a seat in your parliament, especially the seat of speaker of assembly. Never forget to be in charge of opposition parties, be it directly or indirectly. Elections should be regular, but always won by you or your party by absolute majority. Never allow a situation where your party is more popular and powerful than yourself; you may face stiff opposition from within. Have a constitutional electoral commission and human rights commission but where all the top office bearers and commissioners are your deployed cadres. Of course, the judiciary must be parked with your judge appointees with a clear mission. With this kind of 'democracy' in place, you will make it very easy for any western power to do any kind of business with you without much public reproach.

Rule 5. Be very, very nice to your army. Be mean to your police. But being nice to your army does not mean that you should ever allow anyone who does not come from your tribe to be in command, unless that person is just ceremonial while real power lies with commanders from your tribe. Make sure you have a small but elite presidential guard unit, which must be not less than 90% from your tribe. Never forget to play around with tribal names for disguise. Of course allow some few guys from other tribes to come in for safety sake just in case some stubborn journalist may ask you about the obvious bias, but such intruders must not occupy sensitive positions, must not be eligible for specialized training, and must never have access to priority structures and information; most importantly they must be a priority for your intelligence. This elite unit must be at least three times better equipped and trained than the regular army and police combined. All top regular army and police commanders must be deployed from this elite unit for coordinated control of all armed forces.

Rule 6. First make your people to starve and then later allow all international NGOs and donors free access to starving rural people so that they vote for you because they got food aid. Where possible make sure that your wife and daughters are the darlings of such NGO's; women are very good at winning hearts and offering memorable moments.

Rule 7. Colonial masters expected little of Africans. Keep it that way; keep your citizenry ignorant and unproductive. Most importantly, destroy the quality of education in your country so much that there should be no significant difference between a rural illiterate and a university graduate. But don't forget to make some money from the illusion by putting up some pseudo but amplified schools and universities of your own via fronts.

Rule 8. Make sure you become a tribal leader too, even if you do not speak the language. Meet all-important people in your tribe every month and emphasize strongly how other tribes are going to either kill you all or repossess all your ill-gotten wealth, if you leave power. The word will spread and, when the shit hits the fan, your tribe will yield machetes for you. In political Africa, 'tribe' means anybody who speaks your language to whom you regularly give money and civil service jobs. Equally important, do not forget to create new 'tribes' which owe their very existence to you personally and which are not sustainable unless you are in power. This should be done at the expense (divide and rule policy) of those dominant tribes whose tribal leaders do not need your handouts for survival.

Rule 9. Destroy or infiltrate all unions and civil organizations that have a constituency of educated Africans. All farmers' associations'/co-operatives, parents' associations, teachers' associations, church groups etc. These are very dangerous, especially Catholics who have a dictator in the Vatican to whom they account. This way, you have no organized civil society that works. If your citizenry cannot organize themselves around issues such as work or education, they can only organize themselves by tribe. And your cabinet ministers control their tribes, just as you do, because they are the richest people in their tribes.

Rule 10. Allow all civil society groups that do not have any sizeable membership or constituency among the citizenry. This way, you can shrug your shoulders and say you are happy to be criticized, but what noise they make means nothing.

Rule 11. Never allow concepts like 'fiduciary duty', 'social contract' and 'free and democratic society' to ever be taught in schools and universities or to be used in any legislation. Make sure the professors and lecturers who understand these concepts are pulled out into ministerial or advisory posts where they are too busy eating from the system to think of such 'hard to crack' concepts.

Rule 12. A free press is very important for camouflage. But have shares in all major media and make sure that you allow them to criticize everything except those things that could mobilize the citizenry into civil disobedience, sustained strike, or armed rebellion. Encourage many of your cronies and fronts to invest in the media so that through them you can guide and control public opinion. These days, you can even secretly pay bloggers. It would do you a big service to win some accolades for a free but counter-revolutionary press.

Rule 13. Do not send all the money you steal to Switzerland. Buy US treasury bonds and hide them in your children's library. Your children will never see it. Why should they read? Daddy is rich. They may however stage-manage a few businesses here and there to fool the fools. Do not have businesses in wife or children's names. Deal in euros, Krugerrands and diamonds.

Rule 14. Be nice to your fellow world dictators; you may need them one day. Join Nepad. It's great for networking. Attend all African Union meetings and bring presents. The AU is the dictator's best friend. For presents to colleagues, cash is good, gold is better, and treasury bonds the best. If all these things fail and you find yourself surrounded by screaming citizens carrying homemade weaponry, make sure you have a Hummer (like Raila Odinga) in your garage. They are cheap now in America.

Fred Asiimwe is not in intelligence, he just has a big mouth

Editor, I would like to comment on the alleged Rwandan Intelligence officer that was said to have been arrested.

It is true that Mr. Fred Asiimwe was arrested by CID officials in Rwanda but as a friend of his family I would like to say that this person is not an Intelligence officer, security agent or government employee instead he is a chap that does small business for survival and uses his mouth for survival.

He was arrested because he was calling himself a personal friend of Col. Karegeya and an Intelligence agent wherever he goes within great lakes. The confusion to many is because of the commonly known Captain Fred Asiimwe also known as Capt. Ntare who is a long serving soldier and Intelligence officer and a very close person to Kagame cirles. As a matter of fact there is no way CID can arrest a soldier of Capt. Asiimwe calibre.

I would like to let the readers know that Mr. Fred Asiimwe was released after some interrogations at CID in Kigali. Those who want to know this can contact CID. I am sure they will be told a story on how this illiterate individual was arrested because of his mouth.

Keep up the spirit Radio Katwe you do a great job

Editor: allow me to comment on the above comment about Asiimwe Fred. If I read the article well he called him a chap and that he does small things for survival, but from 1995 I have never heard of some one who has been imprisoned in Rwanda who is intelligent, nor literate. All of them are fools, for example Sebarenzi, PK, Foluma, Kwikiliza, Gahima, Rudasingwa, Ruzibiza and many others.

Any way we know Capt Callibre and Fred too, so I think Rwandans are now tired of the RPF propaganda, like this fellow who calls himself a friend to that guys family.
I wish Rwandans peace and unity.

Rwandan journalist JB Sanyu surfaces, 'arrested in USA'!

whats your comment as you have been claiming that the guy is in a safe house in Rwanda!!!

Following weeks on the run, the former Managing Director of The New Times Publications S.a.r.l, was arrested as he attempted to enter the United States of America. According to police, John Bosco Sanyu was held in response to an Interpol Red Notice issued by the Rwanda National Police after he skipped a five-year jail term he was sentenced to a few months ago.

Anybody have a copy of the 'fundamental change' speech?

Dear Radio Katwe

Does anyone have a copy of Museveni's 1986 acceptance speech? We would love to compare it with the current situation.

It will reveal to the Ugandans the real person behind the words, and if he does own up to those words.

thank you.

Aluma says "Kony, don't sign"

Editor may I thank Kony through your paper?

Dear Kony, thanks very much for not signing this piece of paper. Actually if you had signed it would be your death certificate, you remember what happened to us in UNRF? We have signed twice but where are we? We are without jobs in exile. If you want to do the same mistake, sign it. Or you just ignore these thugs and continue with the work you are doing. I am behind you in spirit and keep praying for you every day.

Yours Aluma

Pump prices: quick to go up, slow to come down, if ever

With oil prices now hitting almost $50 per barrel, down from $150, and pump prices in USA almost at levels of two-four years ago, down from the $4 dollar average of two months ago, one wonders why our "revolutionary" (M-7) and his horde of thieves are not willing to respond to judgement call by commensurately bringing down petrol pump prices.

Reportedly, he and his cohorts have decided to continually exploit the continually suffering Ugandans by maintaining price levels at the all-time high levels of two months ago. This under the pretext that Kenya has banned and is detaining our four-axel oil delivery trucks. But were we not advised and repeatedly reminded about the impending ban, but remained intrasingent, as the 'wise' leader is always is always fond of? This alone cannot justify the high cost of fuel in the country. All transporters and travelers should rise up and show the evidently expired, hyper-corrupt, tribal and exploitative regime their teeth. Afterall, where are all these extra revenues going if not to the coffers of him and his cohorts, since there's nothing on the ground to show for it? Uganda is the only country on earth with more than two revenue collecting bodies, one of which (i.e. SRSP) has direct reporting lines to State House, the reason for which is clear!

Enough is enough...we keep moving from one corner to another like village chicken beaten by rain!

Condolences to MP (Rubanda West) Henry Banyenzaki

Dear Hon Banyenzaki,

Sorry for the loss of your sisters and your brother-in-law, (see MP Banyenzaki loses 3 sisters in car crash -Editor)

My advice to you, let this accident be investigated well, you may need private investigators because Kaihura who is the NRM Cadre is useless in such cases. Remember you anoyed the most dangerous man in Uganda called Amama Mbabazi. Remember what he told you? That what if he is to be against you? This man can only be compaired to Mariamungu of IDI Amin regime. You saw how Museven handled his Temangalo scandle; even the president fears him and he cannot rule Uganda even for one day without Mababazi. Please take care. If you dont know him well, go to Kanungu and ask people who understand him.

Concerned Ugandan.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So in Uganda, who has the power to investigate?

Fear but do not respect the current government

The Muhwezi and Mukula are arguing that the IGG has no powers to try them for the alleged offences of causing financial loss, theft, embezzlement, obtaining money by false pretences, forgery and uttering forged documents. The Mbabazi, Suruma etc claim the paliament had no power to investigate them therefore the IGG should get involved!

1. My suggestion is the speaker should apologise to Ugandans for not knowing that the paliament has no power before the (majority and minority) reports were presented to him. A lot of money was spent and even NRM government representatives wanted to offer women for the services of paliamentarians working overtime.

2. The IGG should not waste any more on the Temangalo as for us the local citizens we go with the majority report, though not now! Such cases will be put back in courts once this government is out of power.

As long as the NRM is in power we will pretend and chant NRM slogans as we cannot afford not to. The NSSF contributors should pretend they are happy for their money to be spent on buying wetlands since the president said the place is dry when he viewed it from his helicopter.

Collecting Uganda's history

Dear Radio Katwe, could you please start a thread on collecting information about Uganda starting from 1962 up 1985? Of most importance would be films showing what past governments did to achieve in less than 20 years.

This would maybe open eyes of the young people in Uganda so that they can see the truth instead of lies from Museveni and his scavengers. Some materials would be nice for a documentary. Very many Ugandans would be will to contribute to such an undertaking and getting a film expert would not be such a difficult thing.

Thank you,

Umkosi the concerned citizen

On the Ssese Mirembe Free Trade Zone

Would you please educate us on the SSEES MIREMBE FREE TRADE ZONE. Is Mugonza Bambi Baaba Baabuwe still in existence? Or 'someone' is using his name to build himself a city free of disturbances?

Where is Bambi Baaba? What is he doing wherever he is? Why did he run away from Uganda? Does he have any special 'understanding with 'our president'?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Georgians, is 'Mr Kabuye' watching you?

The Ugandan Community in Georgia should watch for Mr Kabuya, the brother of former ISO Chief. He has been tasked to spy on top Mengo supporters in the USA.
