Museveni's secret deals with Egypt

Dear fellow Ugandans and Radio Katwe,

As always, apologies for not being able to update you in a timely way. We have been away on official duties in London and New York.

Going through the intelligence reports and newspapers we had missed during our absence from the country, I cannot help but think that the end of our time in power is around the corner. It is now everyone for himself, God for all.

I find revisiting this affair between NSSF, Amama Mbabazi and Jim Muhwezi somewhat distasteful as I had mentioned before. These two people are colleagues of mine and we have worked together during past wars fighting Amin and then Obote. They are also family friends.

However, because of their tendency to criminal methods, we have always differed on strategy and principle and they will be the first ones to tell you do not involve Captain Vincent if you have a dirty private deal.

My problem with both these two colleagues of ours is that just like our boss the "visionary" Yoweri Museveni, their selfishness and greed is boundless. Whereas all three are driven by insatiable greed, the only difference I can perhaps point out is that unlike Jim, the other two - Amana and Yoweri - will also kill without thinking twice to achieve their selfish interests.

As we have discussed before, the criminal careers of Amama and Yoweri go back decades. They have practiced all sorts of dirty tricks for so long that they seem to have forgotten that even a once healthy young dog grows old and can no longer bite.

By now all Ugandans can see for themselves the criminal nature of the entire Museveni government; the people we in security swore to protect and who in turn swore to protect and defend the constitution (law) are the chief instigators of lawlessness.

On top of the latest criminal offence against the workers (NSSF), Amama is now flagrantly abusing his powers and connections in intelligence and various branches of government to continue committing crimes by staging a fake bank robbery.

Amama, my friend, whereas these tricks worked during our time in FRONASA and when we were fighting in Luwero and in the North, people are not so stupid these days. If you cared to exercise it, common sense would have dictated that you retire from this foolish trickery.

In fact, you are making matters worse because as you are fully aware, the thugs and rouge elements in security circles you are using are the same ones talking around town in bars and other places of entertainment.

Yesterday, my juniors were at CPS and picked up information that Police Officers are having a good laugh and saying let NRM eat itself up as they enjoy for free the shameful Katemba you are putting on in full view of the whole nation.

My children are now asking me if it is true Uncle Mbabazi and Uncle Jim are thieves!

Well, Amama as mentioned to you once during our meetings outside the security committees, people hate you for a reason and this time round you will go down because Yoweri has also begun to panick. Not because of the current NSSF saga but because you have failed to control your tongue. You can't seem to stop talking and that is something he does not appreciate.

Stand warned, more dirt is going to surface including your diversion of money meant for building Army barracks and misuse of the funding we get from the United States under a State Department program to assist friendly countries to procure non-lethal military hardware.

Fellow Ugandans, the above is not what should worry you most because as mentioned, it is now an irrevocable fact that the NRM, the party we fought for is criminal in nature and will always remain and be remembered so. For those of us who had invested something: high hopes, dreams and our very lives, all we have are regrets.

What I wish to alert Ugandans about today is pay closer attention to the strange goings on between Egypt and "Uganda" (in reality Yoweri Museveni).

It has now come out in the papers that "Uganda" i.e. Yoweri has given "2 million acres of land" to the Egyptians. That is the whole of Nakasongola (inclusive the air base that will be used by planes carrying the products directly to Egypt without even paying taxes) plus some areas of the National Parks.

Ugandans should know that President Mubarak fears to travel to any African country following the attempted assassination in Ethiopia some time back. So this idea that he casually came to lobby Museveni to stand against the indictment of Bashir of Sudan by the ICC does not make much sense. As we have discussed before, Yoweri's own standing among most African leaders is worse than dismal with many seeing him as a future candidate for the Hague. Why come and consult a man who not only has no clout but also on matters over which he has no say in the first place? If he was looking for that type of support Mubarak should have at the very least gone to meet the Tanzania President who is the present AU chair and commands a lot more of respect in Africa.

Therefore, if you hear their Minister claiming that Uganda has given them land, please take it seriously. The fact that no one apart from Museveni himself and perhaps a few Egyptian officials seems to know much about it should not surprise, but only be a confirmation as that is characteristic of his way of doing things. The Uganda government whose authority is invoked when things go wrong is always the last to know.

It is not the first time that Uganda (read Museveni) has given Egypt "free" items. Let me take you back some six years ago when Yoweri driven by greed, used to secretly authorize the release of more water than had been offically agreed to flow through the dam in Jinja down to Egypt during the night. Is this the man meant to protect Uganda as a country?

Natural factors aside, perhaps Uganda would not be experiencing these power shortages partly blamed on low water levels had Museveni not sold our water to the Egyptians.

It was a double edged sword in that at the same time they were draining our lake, Yoweri and others were putting in place thermal power projects that they had shares in. If this is not criminal, I wonder what it is.

So, whereas Ugandans have lost money in the so-called land procurement by NSSF and must continue to fight for what is rightfully theirs, we should keep a keen eye on the government land being sold by Yoweri and the continued draining of Lake Victoria to the benefit of our "revolutionary" because sooner than later, we may have no water while Yoweri basks on the beaches of Europe in his retirement.

For God and My Country.
